Description: This collection is an example of the popularity of paint by number art kits of 1950's America. These were painted by my Grandfather in Dracut, Massachusetts,. He enjoyed painting original art, and later during his fight with cancer would instead start with a paint by number kit and further embellish it, as he might be able. A carpenter by trade, it is assured that he is also the maker of the mahogany frames. He made nearly all of his own frames (and a good deal of furniture) from the wood scraps and molding under-cuts he was allowed to take home from job sites. This set has had a home in my Grandmother's original Dracut house (with 10 kids) and later in my own home as a child, and currently (as pictured) in the home I currently reside. These simple very common still life images and other scenes of serenity that adorned the walls of my own home and those of my cousins through the years are a reminder of just how bountiful even the simplest of lives can be when we pause to appreciate all that nature and sharing produces in our lives. These paintings (sold as a set of 3) are looking for new home where they can be enjoyed for another generation of curious eyes.
