Description: This is a great little butt chisel. In Japanese, it is called an orie-nomi. The bevel was corrected and sharpened to 6000 grit. The back of the blade was lapped flat which is necessary to obtain a great edge. The blade and hoop were re-blued. The hoop was removed, corrected and reattached. The butt of the handle was properly peened over. The handle was stripped and coated with three coats of shellac. Once you have used one of these chisels, you will never go back to a western one. Japanese chisels are blacksmith made and surpass almost all western chisels. It will pass the straight down paper cut test and the shave test. The keeper in included. It's rustic but it keeps the blade from getting banged up in your tool box.
