There is a four page introduction followed by reproductions of the paintings. Artists whose work is reproduced in this book include van Dyck, Lucas van Leyden, Jean van Eyck, Rubens, Corneille de Vos, Joos van Cleve, Rembrandt, Durer, Velasquez, and many others. Andre Chamson (1900-1983) was a French novelist and essayist. The pages are unusually thick. The color illustrations were printed on glossy paper and were then glued to the thick pages. This technique of printing illustrations was commonly used in art books many years ago. The result is high quality illustrations; however, the glue has left stains on the reverse side of the pages. This is an ex-library book, with a library binding. There is a small inkstamp at the bottom of the inside front cover, an almost invisible embossed stamp at the bottom of the title page, and a couple of other minor library markings. One of the illustrations is loose, but could easily be reglued. Otherwise, the book is in very good condition. Again, the text of this book is in French, and NOT in either English or German.
