Description: Clarksville is the county seat of Montgomery County, Tennessee. With a estimated population fo 153,205 it is the fifth-largest city in the state. In 1784, John Armstrong filed notice with the Legislature of North Carolina to create the town of Clarksville and the city was founded in one year later. Madison Street Methodist Church was built just short of 100 later and is a historic church still at 310 Madison street in Clarksville, Tennessee. The church is a brown brick building that exemplifies Gothic architecture of the Victorian era, built in 1883.
