Description: Magnolia champaca is a tree in the Magnoliaceae family. The tree is native to South Asia, Southeast Asia−Indochina, and southern China. Common names include Fragrant Himalayan Magnolia, Joy Perfume Tree, and Yellow Jade Orchid Tree. Known for its fragrant flowers, its timber, and its religious meanings. Found in Tropical and subtropical ecoregions in elevations of 200–1,600 meters. In its native ranges, it can grow to 160 feet tall with a trunk size of over 6 feet in diameter. They are most commonly seen growing around 20 feet in the States. The very strong fragrant flowers come out in June and waft the area until September. Flowers are used for worship in India and also for perfume reasons. Girls wear the flowers in their hair for a beautiful perfume scent. The furniture made with it has a dark brown and olive color wood. It prefers to grow in full sun to partial shade. Zones 10-11 Germination Soak seeds for 24 hours. Sow 1/2" deep and cover with acidic potting soil. Spray to keep the soil constantly moist. Keep them covered with plastic wrap to increase humidity. Keep them very warm at 85F until they germinate.
