Description: Here’s one of two Code 3 Rovers purchased in 2003. The first one was used for home display and the other was left unopened and stored inside a closet for the last 20years. The shipping carton was never opened and the original seals are still intact. Inside, you’ll find an unopened original white JPL box with the Lander carefully packed inside. The shipping box has a 3/4 inch gash that is about 3mm deep and will not affect the JPL box or it’s contents.A COA numbered 747 is included along with other info and instructions. No returns on this item because it is mint in box and double sealed. What you get is what JPL sent!Description:Code 3, Mars Exploration Rover, National Air and Space Museum Collection produced in collaboration with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL,) and Cal Tech. This is a 1/10th scale model of the twin "Spirit" and "Opportunity" mobile robotic geologist that were sent to explore different areas on Mars. Lander replica is made of resin and plastic and features moveable solar panels, detailed replicas of the rovers' instruments, pancam mast assembly, and robotic arm; also known as the instrument deployment device. The wheels are die cast, can swivel, and roll smoothly. Antenna, arms, and solar panels are all movable and work well. NASA and JPL logos appear in the same places as they do on the real craft. A Martian "surface" base molded of different color resins completes the model providing a means of display for the scale rover. Here’s the original 2003 Code 3 production news release taken from the CollectSPACE website:“Now you can share in the excitement of exploring Mars by having a replica of the Rover in your home to share with family and friends! The Mars Exploration Rover is a 1/10th scale reproduction of the twin "Spirit" and "Opportunity" robotic geologists that will explore two different areas on Mars. This 6 1/2 x 9 x 6-inch die-cast replica features an extending arm, a rotating high gain antenna, movable solar panels, movable wheels, and authentic NASA and JPL logos. Extra care was taken in perfecting this model. The Mars Rover was originally molded to be all resin, but to ensure durability of the model we have given it die-cast legs that are movable. Each model comes with a limited edition certificate and Martian landscape base which is adorned with a special silver plaque. Limited edition of 5,000 pieces.”
