Description: RED CIRCLE MEDIA presents another exciting production from Columbia Studios "MYSTERIOUS ISLAND" During the siege of Richmond, Virginia, in the American Civil War, P.O.W. Captain Cyrus Harding escapes from his Confederate captors (along with a group of other individuals) by hijacking an observation balloon. A hurricane blows the balloon off course, and the group crash-lands on an uncharted island. With the knowledge of one of the other escapees (a brilliant engineer) the five are able to sustain themselves on the island. The castaways encounter the local natives (who worship the island's volcano) and Rula (a woman from Mercury trying to extract an unnamed super explosive element in order to conquer the Earth). To make things worse they also meet up with a wild man named Ayerton, exiled on the island, as well as Captain Shard, a ruthless pirate, and a mystery man, who possesses great scientific powers. Our heroes must battle the elements and peoples while trying to figure out a way off the island and back to civilization.
