Description: One packet Texas Paintbrush Seed. Shipped with USPS Tracking. Free shipping in the US. This particular species is only native to Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas. The flower is actually the tiny creamy/pale yellow center, surrounded by the fiery red-orange leaf-like “paintbrush” spikes. The tiniest of seeds (approximately 28,500 per packet). Plant in the fall for spring blossoms. Seeds should be sown directly on the soil surface and very lightly raked in. Difficult to establish. Extremely hard to harvest seed. Adapts to well-drained areas in full sun. The roots will grow until they touch the roots of other “host” plants (like Bluebonnets and other grasses), penetrating their roots to obtain necessary nutrients. Plant 1/4 pound per acre.
