Aluminum corrodes much faster than brass. Even though brass changes color if not plated, you can take a piece of sandpaper and make it look new. Aluminum bubbles and becomes a white powder which can't easily be restored. The oxide goes deep into the surface with Aluminum, the brass change is only superficial. The reason many of the manufacturers don't use brass is that it's very expensive, 4x to 5x more expensive.
