Description: NOS new old stock, unused. One single Altec Lansing dual-output filament transformer, marked Model 557A, USN 30363, Navy Type. Olive drab painted casing with clear silver-gray markings. Traces of old adhesive tape on sides, very faint (factory?). Case is complete and fully sealed, no dents. Welded to the bottom are four threaded mounting lugs (size 10-32). Weight: 6lb, 10.5oz. each. Terminals and their resin insulators are as new, no damage or soldering. Six electrical terminals: Two Primary inputs are Nos. 1 & 2 are marked 115 volts, 60 CPS, or, Hz. Four Secondaries outputs, marked 6.3 volts. Nos. 3 & 4 are 6.3v @ 6A. Nos. 5 & 6 are 6.3v @ 1.2A. Very good condition. Slight shelf wear. Resistance: the primary and secondary windings were confirmed for continuity and expected resistances. Power transform: I ramped them up slowly on a Variac with AC, from 0 to 115 VAC. I measured the secondaries and confirmed the correct/expected AC voltages. From 115VAC primary, I got 6.65VAC unloaded secondary voltages. Suitable for high-end audio amplifier builds (vacuum-tube monoblocks), electronic builds, and anywhere that a premium-make transformer from a premier brand is desired. Provide ample power, since it has both 1.2 amp and 6 amp secondary windings. Transformer will be individually wrapped and boxed, then encased in a stiff foam-lined cardboard box for shipping.
