Fine old Carl Friedrich HOPF violin around 1870 / 1880 with a repair note dated 1903.Please listen to the video/soundfile & scroll down to see all detailed XXL photos below as part of the description!Nicely carved scroll and accurately inlaid purfling. This beautiful violin shows several professional executed repairs (grafted neck at the heel and firmly glued and patched lines on the front), but no open cracks or open seams, and surely some marks in it´s old amber varnish due to its age. The table is finely grained spruce and the back, as well as ribs and neck, is nicely flamed maple. The violin has been checked by our luthiers and checked by our violin player on playability. It received new ebony pegs, new ebony tailpiece, new ebony chinrest, a new bridge, new soundpost and new strings.These are new German silver wound steel core strings with good projection, easy to play while allowing rapid finger performance. We use these strings on mostly all of our violins to provide a comparison of the tonal qualities of each instrument in the videos. In any case a new owner should consider higher quality strings of own personal preference to enhance the full character of this violin! Good old German violin in immediate playing condition!
