Description: Syracuse China "Thebes" Plate -- Railroad Ware -- Gold Rim by Onondaga Pottery Co. (a.k.a. O.P. Co. and OPCO) Onondaga, New York Antique -- produced June 1916 OPCO produced this plate "to order" in June of 1916 for railroad companies, specifically the Missouri Kansas & Texas (MKT) Railroad. The plate is porcelain with a vitreous glaze. White body with gold rim and an Art Nouveau decoration in gold and green. This plate is especially rare for its gold rim -- most plates in this pattern have a painted border. This pattern, in different color-ways, was produced for train / railroad companies and restaurants. It is known for its strength and the durability of its decoration.
