Description: This Japanese chisel was hand-forged by Ouchi Toshiaki, the 4th generation in the Ouch line, a skilled blacksmith using traditional techniques with laminated steel construction. The high carbon steel provides an extremely sharp edge while the soft backing steel provides toughness and durability. Condition: New old stock. The chisel has never been sharpened or used and is in new condition. As this is a new item, you will need to set up and sharpen the chisel. The style is Oire Nomi, otherwise known as a standard bench chisel. This style of chisel is meant for general-purpose use and is suitable for carpentry and cabinetry work. With a metal hoop to prevent splitting of the wood handle, it is meant to be hit with a genno or metal hammer.
