By mucking your hand, you discard your cards so they are not shown at the table -- instead, they go into what's called the "muck pile" containing all of the discarded cards from that hand. The cards in a muck are still in play, but they are not revealed to the other players at the table, which distinguishes it from a fold. In poker, it most often refers to the discard pile into which players may throw their folded hands, and into which the dealer places burned cards.] It also refers to when a player is folding his hand (face down) saying nothing. In fact, the hand is not folded until it reaches the muck (it can be taken back and used if the dealer did not take the hand yet). The practice of mucking cards when discarding helps to ensure that no other player can reliably determine which cards were in the folded hand. In poker, the term may also refer to the action that a player who has not folded may take; he can have his hand "mucked" if another player attempts to discard but one or more cards end up in the live player's hand. So many players will place a chip or other object on their cards: it helps to prevent errant cards from entering their hand. People sometimes call them card covers, card guards, or card protectors. The dealer is responsible for handling the mucked cards, and occasionally, the dealer makes a mistake and mucks a live hand, which can cause great contention. In high stakes poker, this can cause serious conflict and the loss of thousands of dollars. Higher stakes players often rely on poker protectors to prevent their hand from being mucked. Players often use a poker protector, such as a token or a chip, to indicate that their hand is still live. This led to the invention of some very pretty and unique poker protectors in various shapes, sizes, and designs. I try very hard to remain competitive with my prices. All my individual chips come in a protective coin case so there will be no damage. I have attempted to give accurate information regarding condition and to disclose any defects, stains, etc. I take plenty of pictures to give you an accurate idea of condition. Please look at the pictures! I typically take side 1, side 2, edge and in protective case pictures. My own personal condition rating is what you see, and it’s based upon the Casino Collectibles Association rating system (New, Slightly Used, Average, Well-Used and Poor). Keep in mind that condition is in the eyes of the collector, so look closely at the photographs. If you are unhappy with a chip, I will refund your purchase price upon return.
