Opened your camper up after winter storage and found some critters had been in there during the off-season? Have you had an unfortunate accident while putting your canvas away in the last rain storm? Holes, rips, tears ... ? Well – I really, really hope that you are not in any of these positions. But, if you are, and you are looking to repair your camper canvas yourself – I can supply the material and the know-how that you need and most importantly, my material will match your original canvas' gray color and texture. My Story At the beginning of my story, I embarked on a mission to restore a 20 Year Old Coleman Pop-up camper. Most of the mechanical stuff was still in great shape - the real problems were holes in the canvas. The camper had been stored outside over one winter and some critters got in and just did a lot of mischief that left me with several small to medium sized holes to contend with. I thought that would be easy for a canvas repair shop to take care of, but I quickly discovered that most shops don't want to be bothered with something this small. And the one or two that said they might take a look cautioned me that it would be pretty costly. The cost of replacing the entire cavas for new was well over $1,000. What I did instead is I found identical canvas material (it's actually a specialty fabric) to that used by Coleman (and many other camper manufacturers) and repaired the holes myself! The replacement fabric has the same UV resistance and breathability as the OEM canvas does. Take note that these repairs were done by me at my kitchen table using my wife's sewing machine (no special or industrial grade equipment needed) - and, I have no prior experience or skills using a sewing machine - I just thought about it and said, "how hard could it really be?" It turned out that if you take your time, it's actually not so hard. I ended up patching holes, replacing screens, repairing rubber inserts – you name it, I probably did it. In addition to sharing the good news that you can actually repair your own camper canvas, I am making available replacement canvas material for sale. What I am offering are patches, cut to your nominal specifications, that you would then apply to your existing canvas. The material is just as you see it in the sample picture. I am limited on EBay as to how many pictures I can post (they charge me for extras) and I'm not supposed to link directly to my website. Shipping and Other Questions: Every EBay order has a charge that shows as shipping. This is actually just a random number that seems to work to make most patch sizes worth my while and helps cover the cost of shipping and the eBay and Paypal fees without making things too complicated. I can also accomodate patch sizes that are larger than the standard size (perhaps you have a larger hole or would like additional material for multiple patches). Pricing for non-standard sizes is about $.40 - $.50 per square inch. You will need to specify the L x W of your patches when asking me to post something on EBay for you. I am often asked if I can do better on my pricing for really large orders - I regulary sell to customers who need $100 or more worth of patch repairs plus other materials I carry - the answer is that I handle those questions through my website and email sales only, not on EBay - why? because EBay is just too expensive (they charge me 10%+ for auctions and have lots of other fees - which does not leave me much room to work on price).
