Description: If my memory is correct I was having a conversation in 2009 with Rob Segal who is the owner of Marble Arch Ltd. & the importer of the Ser Jacopo brand of pipes since their inception in 1982. At this time I was building a collection of pipes and asked Rob if Ser Jacopo had ever made any churchwarden pipes. Rob thought about it for a while and said NO, they had not. Ser Jacopo at that time had been making pipes for 27 years & NO churchwarden pipes had ever been made & imported into the USA. I told Rob I would like a Ser Jacopo churchwarden pipe & left all the details up to Giancarlo Guidi the founder, owner, & maker of Ser Jacopo pipes. Fast forward to August 2010 & I met Rob at the annual IPCPR trade show where he showed me the handful of churchwarden pipes that Ser Jacopo had made. I think their were maybe 6 pipes total. This pipe I am now listing for sale was the ONLY GEM SERIES MADE. I hope my pictures show its beauty. It remains Unsmoked in the original box as shown in my 12th picture. Details are as follows: Weight 2.4oz, Length is about 9 3/4", Height is about 2", Bowl Top Diameter is 1 1/4", Chamber is about 13/16". Mouthpiece is black acrylic & NO filter can be used. Ring is silver. Left shank reads: Ser Jacopo, dalla gemma, FATTA A MANO, In ITALIAUnderside reads: Fiammata, SMERALDO, CHURCHWADEN ( yes the word is misspelled)Right shank reads: PER ASPERA, AD ASTRA A TRUE 1 of a kind Beautiful pipe that will never be made again since on August 6, 2012 Giancarlo Guidi passed away. He was only 64 years old. Message me with any questions.
