Description: "On Treasure Isle" is a rare 1937 calendar print signed "Forest" which is a pseudonym for R. Atkinson Fox. R. Atkinson Fox (1860-1935) was a prolific illustrator of calendars, posters, postcards, picture puzzles, and advertising material from the late 1900s until about 1930. Naturalism was considered Fox's strength as a painter. He was especially admired for his paintings of landscape, horses, cows and mountains. Fox's work has been popular among collectors for decades, even spawning "The R.A. Fox Society", a group dedicated to his work. "Forest" was one of his many pseudonyms. "On Treasure Isle" features a pin-up beauty dressed as a pirate. It is 10" x 16.75" in total size and 6.75" x 9.25" in image size. It is in fair condition. The image has some staining in the upper right corner. The calendar piece has creases, tears and paper loss around the edges. The calendar pad is complete, but rusting of the staples has resulted in some of the pages being loose. Advertising on the calendar features Ideal Grocery of Palacios, Texas. This calendar will be shipped flat.
