Description: Here for your consideration is an exquisite, rare vintage, circa 1970s, Russian (Ural Mountains) handcrafted and polished, malachite gemstone, cigarette lighter/toothpick holder. A truly stunning piece of workmanship in beautiful condition. The colour and markings are really quite striking. It's been carved to depict movement, power, elegance, and grace. Condition: The malachite casing is in lovely original condition. The lighter does strike and light but sadly it won’t hold gas for more than a few hours. As you can see the lighter pulls out from its case so it could be repaired or very easily converted into a toothpick holder. Hence we have priced this accordingly! Malachite ... Malachite is a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral. This opaque, green banded mineral crystallises in the monoclinic crystal system and most often forms botryoidal, fibrous, or stalagmitic masses, in fractures and spaces, deep underground, where the water table and hydrothermal fluids provide the means for chemical precipitation. Individual crystals are rare but do occur as slender to acicular prisms. Pseudomorphs after more tabular or blocky azurite crystals also occur. Dimensions as follows ...
