Description: Renegade 40-Ply Sewn Buffing Wheels 8" and 10" 40-Ply Sewn Buffing Wheels For Metal Finishing Our 40-Ply Sewn Buffing Wheels are made in the USA in our Anaheim, California facility and are ideal for bringing a fine, showroom worthy finish to your polished metal. Their versatile nature also makes them great for polishing urethane, polyurethane, and cultured marble surfaces. What size buffing wheel should I use for polishing? We recommend the 8" Sewn Buffing Wheels for most cases—it offers greater versatility and is great for detail work, while the 10" variety would likely be used by professionals on large flat work, such as a fuel tank. Businesses, professionals, and skilled users may find the 10" Sewn Buffing Wheels are ideal for them because of the longer life of the wheel. Pairing buffing wheels with polishing compound correctly: The ideal compounds to use with our 40-Ply Sewn Buffing Wheels would be the Blue Rouge Compound and our Competition Purple Compound. A better finish will be gained with the Competition Purple Compound due to its lower melting point, but those polishing in a hot or humid area may prefer the Blue Rouge Compound and its higher melting point that may be more manageable in those environments. Pro tip: Always rake your buffing wheels. How do I use a buffing wheel rake? The buffing wheel should be spinning at it’s normal speed and the rake should be held securely when held up to a stationary bench grinder or lathe. On a grinder, please exercise caution when raking. We recommend using your feet to hold the rake to the ground and holding the angle-grinder to it. Why should I use a buffing wheel rake? Raking your buff removes hardened and burned on polishing and buffing compound from the edges of your buffing wheel. Compound build up can reduce the efficiency of the buffing wheel while also creating a rougher surface. If you notice a significant decrease in the residual metal dust produced when buffing, rake the buffing wheel and reapply a small amount of metal polishing compound. What Polisher/Grinder Goes best with these buffing wheels? MAKITA 9237C- The best 3,500 RPM polishing machine (PROS & BEGINNERS) MAKITA GA7021 - The best 6,000 RPM polishing machine (PROS) Sewn Buffing Wheels should be run at approximately 2,000 to 2,200 RPMs.
