The pink pigs are whimsical figures given the name Fairings because they were sold at town, state and world fairs as souvenirs. Made in Germany, most fairings were mass-produced, although some were molded individuals. This one is beautifully painted and very well preserved. Pigs were preferred by German makers because they were considered good luck and a sign of wealth. Teddy bears were also made at the time for Americans, named after Teddy Roosevelt. This figurine is a top hat with two pigs. The hat color varies from white to green. The pigs are colorfully "pink". The glaze is in excellent antique condition. There are no chips and no cracks. This cute piece displays well. It measures about 3 inches by 3 inches, and 2 inches tall.
