The rich yellow colors of the bell shaped flowers that are present throughout the warm season in tropical and sub-tropical climates echo the shades of the tropical summer sun. The plant is an outstanding, loose growing, vine-like shrub that requires little care and thrives in hot humid climates. Stansill's Double is an old and somewhat hard to find type with unique double flowers that never gained much traction as it is not a good fit for the mass production model. This is a shame because it is among the easiest to grow, and most profuse bloomers of the species. Once well established, it requires little more than pruning to keep in contained and yearly fertilization to reward the grower with an abundance of rich golden golden double yellow trumpets which are born at the terminal ends of the long arching, vine like canes. . Allamandas go semi-dormant in the winter months enter a resting phase and do not grow significantly thru the winter. This is a normal characteristic of the species. They are recommended for growing outdoors in tropical to semi tropical climates. Allamandas do not adapt easily to indoor growing conditions and typically require supplemental lighting and other special accommodations for indoor growing or over wintering.
