Description: Up for auction is One Stunning Large 27" Greiner Paper Mache Head Antique Doll from the Mid to Late 1800's and a period Tintype Picture showing the Owner and the Doll from the 1800's will be included. The Doll is not marked. Her Lower Arms and Hands are leather and are stitched in classic Greiner fashion. She has Black Hair and Blue Eyes. She is dressed in Replacement Clothes from the 1930's. There is a Green Silk Dress with multiple layers of under garments as seen in the pictures. The Clothes are machine made with a small amount of hand stitching. The shoes are Original Black Leather and the doll has Black Socks. Condition overall is excellent for the age. The Dress is deteriorating and could be replaced while all the under garments are in excellent condition. While the Paper Mache Head is in excellent condition there is a small amount of paint loss on the back of the head which can be seen in the pictures. The Doll Received a Head Repaint in the 1930's. There are no cracks, chips or other damage to the Paper Mache. The left hand is in excellent condition but is broken off from the arm, which can be seen in the pictures, and needs to be reattached. This doll has been displayed and then stored for many years in a box and has not been played with. The Tintype is small and condition is below average to about average for the age of the picture. Just a beautiful example of Greiner Doll making and a must have for any doll collection.
