Composed by legendary Tangerine Dream founder Edgar Froese and his successor Thorsten Quaeschning - chosen by Froese to lead the band's musical vision after his passing in 2015 - the album offers a deeply evocative interpretation of Poe's haunting narrative and remains one of the finest examples of Tangerine Dream's world-renowned sound. Ethereal, transcendent, and occasionally unnerving like the story that inspired it, The Island of the Fay was recorded at the band's Eastgate Studio in Vienna and marked the debut of violinist Hoshiko Yamane as an official member of the band. Founded in 1967 by the late Edgar Froese, legendary electronic German group Tangerine Dream have released more than 100 albums in an extraordinary career spanning seven decades.
