Description: This is a cool and rare set of the original vintage 1966 geological survey papers on the March 27, 1964 Alaska Earthquake. The series is called “The Alaska Earthquake March 27, 1964: Effects on Communities” and these volumes are for Anchorage, Whitter and Valdez. Includes: - Geological Survey Professional Paper 542-A (Anchorage) - Geological Survey Professional Paper 542-B (Whittier) - Geological Survey Professional Paper 542-C (Valdez) Each report comes with an envelope that contains between 1 and 3 maps. Some of these maps are very large and several feet wide and a few have color. All the maps are in excellent condition and free of tears. The reports for Anchorage and Valdez are in great condition with only minor curling on the corners and edges of covers and minor fading along spine. Spine and all pages firmly in place. The cover for report on Whittier is detaching from the contents and had a small tear at the top (see photos). However, all three maps are in great shape. No pages are missing. The three reports have business cards from planning coordinator Patrick J. Lynch staples to the first page top corner.
