Description: THIS INCLUDES THE CLEAR PLASTIC FOLIO ENVELOPE FOR THE COLONIAL AIRLINES SOUVENIR ENVELOPE WHICH INCLUDES A DECEMBER 1954 TIME TABLE, TWO SKYCRUISES TO BERMUDA STICKERS, PAMPHLETS FOR COLONIAL AND REMINGTON AND COLONIAL AND BABIES AND TWO POST CARDS, PLUS THE USUAL AVIS AND HERTZ PAMPHLETS WITH THE COLONIAL NAME. -WHAT SETS THIS APART IS A SMALL TWELVE PAGE BOOKLET, WITH ILLUSTRATIONS EFFECTIVELY SHOWING THE "JOYS OF CRASHING A PLANE INTO THE OCEAN". I SUPPOSE IT WAS AN ATTEMPT AT HUMOR? THERE IS NO WRITING OR SOILING, BUT THERE IS PAPER TONING AND THERE IS CORNER CREASING DUE TO THE BOOKLET BEING LARGER THAN THE ENVELOPE THAT HELD THE REST OF THE INFORMATION. PLEASE USE ZOOM FUNCTION FOR THE PHOTOS, WHICH SHOW EVERY PAGE AND INSPECT THE CREASING. BOOKLET MEASURES 6" X 8" I will begin with what is included in the clear plastic envelope: 1- The plastic envelope with flight maps and plane illustration (Photo 3- left side). Some splitting and raggedness at top. 2- Colonial Airlines Daily Skycruises to Bermuda time table effective December 23, 1954 (photo 3 & 4) 3- Two postcards and two stickers (Photo 2) 4- Colonial Airlines Remington Razor joint advertisement (Photo 3-top & 5 top) 5- Babies are Kings and Queens on Colonial Airlines (Photo 2 & 5) 6- The standard Hertz and Avis pamphlets with the Colonial name (photo 6) and logo THIS IS REALLY ABOUT THE BOOK, HOWEVER. Becoming a member of the Sea Squatters was restricted to those whose lives have been saved by the use of a rubber life raft or "Mae West". Illustrations include: A- Rubber raft with a content Captain smoking a pipe and what appears to be an enamored older woman on the front cover (Photo 7) B- An illustration equating a life raft with a Venice gondola with a mermaid on board (Photo 8) C- A squatting Boy Scout (Photo 8) D- A picture of someone "losing their head" below a statement that Colonial Crews "know all the answers" (Photo 10) E- A passenger back to back with a Polar Bear, with passenger having a nice tropical drink as they sit on an ice cube in the ocean (Photo 11_ F- A raft full of four happy passengers playing cards on a rubber life raft. (Photo 12) The only soiling spot I found was a light mark on the page opposite the squatting Boy Scout (Photo 8) IT APPEARS THAT THE ILLUSTRATIONS WERE DONE BY ROBERT C. OSBORN, , A SATIRIC CARTOONIST, AND I DO GET SATIRE... but this is a bit much. You would have to verify that the R. Osborn here is the same man as I am not 100% certain. He was known for Dilbert the Pilot cartoons during World War 2 and they often had plane crashes and survivors on the water. It is unfortunate about the creasing, but there is no writing, no nicks or tears and you might be able to press out some of that creasing. This is a rare and wacky piece of airline history. Soon after this, Colonial became a part of Eastern Airlines. I utilize a third party EBAY supplied shipper for international sales. This is part of the Global Shipping Program.
