King Conor fell in love with her but she fell in love with another. They eloped to Scotland where they lived an idyllic life until being lured back to Ireland where Deirdre's husband was slain and Deirdre committed suicide rather than be taken in by the cruel King Conor. This sculpture celebrates the love of Deirdre and her lover.
