Description: The Lost World of the Kalahari, by Laurens van der Post, 1958 1st U.S. edition hardcover book with the original dust jacket, published by William Morrow & Co., printed in the United States. From the front cover: "A magnificent account of Colonel van der Post's journey into African desert and of his search- physical and spiritual- for the last remaining Bushmen." Red quarter-binding with wheat cloth, not price-clipped ($4.00 original retail price printed at the top of the inner front dust jacket flap). Measures approximately 8.25" by 5.75" by 1" thick. I consider this book to be in overall good vintage/pre-owned condition. There is typical wear to the original dust jacket including a small tear at the upper left front corner, dinginess, scuffing and shallow surface abrasions; age-toning, foxing and light staining to the pages and text block edges; minor wear to head and tail of the spine. The book has been fitted with a new clear mylar just jacket protector, which is not permanently affixed and can be easily removed if desired. The binding appears intact and square.
