Description: A VERY HEAVY THICK glass BLACK AMETHYST antique GLASS DOOR KNOB. This is a true antique piece of hardware, dating well over 100 years old, back into the 1800's, well over ONE CENTURY OLD. The glass looks jet black but when you it up to the brightest of lights, you can see it is actually a really DEEP DARK purple, BLACK purple. Condition: The whole knob is in good solid condition. It has NO cracks, chips, dings, NO damage to the glass. The polished brass too is solid and sound. It is missing the set screw that holds the knob onto a shaft, but this could be easily replaced if desired. Please see pictures to get an overview of the condition it is in! Age: This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE blown-glass knob, ca. late 1800's. Shipping: FREE domestic shipping, includes insurance. We do NOT insure International orders unless buyer specifically requests this and we are able to provide an insurance estimate. If an international shipping charge is much more than the actual shipping cost, we will refund the excess so what YOU pay for shipping/insurance is very close to, if not exactly, the ACTUAL shipping costs! This is important for foreign buyers to know as most of our foreign shipping charges are estimates. We do not falsify information on the Customs Form, such as a price other than what the actual purchase price is, so please do not request us to do so. We ship several times a week and your prompt payment will hasten the turn-around time. You don't often see this style of antique glass door knob, is is a round oval shape instead of the old HEXAGON (6 - sided) SHAPED glass knobs that you normally see. It has a groove molded into the circumference of the upper part, as seen in the picture. Usually when you see an 'antique' glass door knob, you see the newer glass knobs which have a completely different pattern of glass, are machine made, and are colorless or have a light selenium yellow tinted glass. Those date to the post-1930's era and 1000's of them were mass produced. What is great about this one is not just the uncommon design but also the BLACK / AMETHYST color. Not only can a knob like this be used functionally as a door knob in an old home, but it can also be used for many other things from coat hangers to a totally awesome STICK SHIFT KNOB on a vintage car or pick-truck, nice! In summary, here is a nice black amethyst ANTIQUE brass and glass door knob that can be used for what it was originally designed for or it could be used as an artfully modified functioning object that adds to the décor of a house, check it out!Terms of Sale: Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction.
