Description: For sale here is a great looking US WW2 Troop Carrier Glider Pilot Grouping. The grouping includes a complete named uniform, an Officer's overseas cap, and 10 photos. The jacket is monogramed JG and named to J.L. Grieve and dated 8/23/44. There are 10 photographs. These show a good looking Glider pilot in a Class A Uniform Jacket and visor hat, some photos of base life, and a couple of pictures of a girlfriend that is dressed like a belly dancer. Most of the photos are dated 1944 and 1945. The photos of the pilot are not named. The overseas cap is a tailor made Officer's Garrison Cap in chocolate elastique. It is maker marked by Lewis and is marked size 7. The cap is in great condition and has an unmarked pin back Flight Officer rank.The jacket is a beautifully tailored and customized 4 pocket made by Thomas Custom Tailors of Lubbock Texas. The jacket has the most beautifully hand attachment job of a felt Troop Carrier patch that i have ever seen on the left shoulder, carefully removed Officer's cuff braids, an integrated belt, all period clutch back collar insignia(missing one Sterling clutch from the back of one of the winged props), unmarked pin back Flight Officer rank, Sterling pin back Levelle marked Troop Carrier DI's, a british made sewn on ribbon bar with 4 oak leaf clusters on the Air Medal, a Good Conduct Ribbon, and an ETO ribbon with 2 Stars, and a gorgeous HEAVY pin back Sterling Glider Pilot Wing. The jacket is very clean with on a couple of small moth nips and light soiling. The jacket has a great monogram and tailor's tag inside, and the jacket appears to be legibly named to JL Grieve, and dated 8/23/44.
