Description: Gimbaled boat compass dated 1909, 115 years old. Made by E.S. Ritchie & Sons of Boston Maine (Brookline). The compass seems to work fine and functions as it should. Set into a wooden box,(I do not believe original to the piece) may have been mounted to a wall and had hinges at one time. The gimbal seems to move freely in the box. It is in estate condition and shown exactly how I found it about 15 years ago. It is in very good antique condition. The Compass face measures approximately 5 1/8 inches in width and 5 1/8 inches in length, the box its mounted in (bottom half) is approximately 7 1/2 inches by 7 1/2 inches and 4 1/2 tall. When the box is together it stands about 9 1/2 inches tall. Please look at all pictures and ask any questions before buying. Thank you!
