Description: (9) "Poured Socket" or "Spelter" Style, Cast Bronze Wire Rope Terminations. Fit 3//16" to 1/4" Wire. Four closed and Five open terminals Four of the terminals have had the original wire removed and ready to use. The method of wire removal is to heat the terminal until the "spelter" (zinc) melts and twist or work the old rigging out. Since the wire is spread in the socket use a punch to push the wire on through the socket. Then use a twist drill to clean the hole to size. It is bronze so do not overheat and melt the bronze. It takes a little effort but vintage bronze this size is hard to find.. This method of termination is still in common in industrial use but some type of resin is used in lieu of zinc spelter.
