Vintage Original Lionel O Gauge 646 Steam Locomotive 4-6-4. Tested at a Museum

Description: This listing is a very nice, original "Lionel No. 646" vintage O gauge 4-6-4 die-cast "Hudson Steam Locomotive" (only). From the post war 1956-58 era. The locomotive features die-cast metal construction, a decorative bell, a motor, a reverse unit, an operating headlight, an operating smoke unit, metal side rods, metal wheels and exquisite detail. No tender, original box, or instruction manual. One of the front boiler green jewel is missing (see photo). I purchased this at a local estate sale.I am not a Lionel or train expert. I took this Locomotive to my neighbor who volunteer's his time at "Henry Ford" museum in Detroit. His co-workers tested it completely on the tracks at the museum. Testing forward and reverse and pulling other cars, it ran strong (see video). The TCA standards from internet research, say it's a C-7: very good - excellent condition. The surface of this item shows normal signs of use, storage, & handling with 60 + years of patina. There is also light wear on the wheels, axles, side rods, and underframe. Because it is vintage it will have scratches, rub marks, and abrasions. The paint will also shows signs of wear, and light pitting, and abrasions. The overall appearance of this locomotive may be improved with a gentle outside cleaning. I was told that they disassembled and thoroughly clean and lubricate throughout. From the articles I read about this model 646 locomotive, it is very desirable amongst train enthusiastic individuals. Check the photos for a detailed look at this item. I believe it's complete.
