Vintage RARE 1930's Carbon microphone Hi Z w period Eastern desk Stand Universal

Description: Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a rare earlier 1930's era carbon microphone set at High impedance and it comes with the original ring, 8 newer springs and the period Eastern model desk stand shown. I should state right away that the brand name of this mic is unknown to me. The riveted label came off this mic years ago and I'm sure exactly what brand it is though I suspect it's either an Ellis, Universal or Toledo / Lifetime model? I'm sure I have sold this very model years ago but it's been a while so I Can't say for sure which one? These early microphones were suspended with springs as a primitive shock mount before the industry converted to other forms of internal padding to keep unwanted feedback to a minimum. The spring mics had a good run though for about 20 years before eventually being phased out. You'll notice that the 8 springs are newer as the originals were all but lost at some point over the decades. I don't have the proper equipment to test this mic so I have no idea if this carbon mic works? You'll need the proper audio equipment if you plan on using one of these older microphones. It does still have the original wiring and they are properly connected so you'll at least know where the connection points are. Again, this spring mic is in good overall physical condition considering it's age as seen in the pictures provided. The mic and ring are chrome plated though there is typical wear on the surface. The mic element is free of any pitting, dents or fractures. The wiring connectors are still present on this mic and could be rewired if you know the correct diagram. I would rate this mic a very conservative 6 on a scale of 1 -10. The mics ring is the same physically overall though you'll notice that there is a small fracture as seen in pic # 5. The 8 newer springs have plenty of tension and look great. They do their job very well. The mics chrome plated rings 4 hooks are perfect. No fractures. The outer ring is original. Not a cheap replica like you see on far too many of these listed on Ebay and Reverb. These old spring mics are almost always missing all the original springs or come with new rings that are cheaply made. The old springs just get wore out from years of use. MICROPHONE STAND IS PART OF THIS SALE... The stand is a period Eastern type which is period to the mic being a 1930's model. It makes for a very stable platform despite it's smaller size as it's made of solid cast iron with a chrome plated brass cover that sits perfectly on top of the base which is the same shape and size. These stands covers are usually very rough from pitting. The cover on this stand does show chrome loss exposing the brass material beneath. The stand has that classic 3 tier "waterfall" design, Very deco in nature and really compliment s the mic nicely. It's a $200.00 stand any day of the week and you just never come across these. I've sold about a dozen Eastern brand type stands over the years. As you can see in the pics provided the stand shows typical wear. The chrome plated riser is original with very lite wear and 6 inches tall. The base has a hole in the rear for a cable to exit from. These old spring mics often ran the wiring right down into the stand so this is a good set up if you plan on rewiring the mic at any point. It's the same for this type. With the mic / ring on top it's appx 15 inches tall and the base is 5 1/2 inches wide. If you are a collector of vintage Americans mics then you might appreciate this mic. She'll make an awesome display piece anywhere it sits in the home, studio or office. As with all my vintage microphone and related items... I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping. If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
