I can’t tell if this would’ve originally had black paint on it, or if there is residual Cosmolene on it (A military grease used for preservation of metals.). These came from a third-generation military/industrial surplus store that had been in business for over 80 years. These have been sitting in an old military packing barrel for the last 50+ years.
