Description: I'll need a more smarter collector to help me truely understand this helmet! It wasn't old Uncle Al's... Stamping is HS 398. That seems to be Hadfield & Sheffield. The 398 is likely a lot number and no type of date system. The edge has a rim band. Top copper rivet in place, but no liner elements. Chin strap mounts are there.
