Description: Legendary Voigtlander & Sohn Optica Co. New York Portrait Euryscop Ser.III No.5 f/4.5 brass lens No.58416. c.1905. According to Voigtlander's 1905 lens catalog, this lens is 14" or about 355mm and uses new improved Jena glass to optimize the performance. Suitable for portraiture and well known for its artistic softness. The lens will cover 8x10 or possibly larger images. From that time on, these lenses were furnished with new iris diaphragms. This is a very large and heavy lens, measuring 4" in diameter and 8" long. The lens is in excellent condition, with exceptionally-clean glass and good working aperture collar. The mounting thread was reduced in size to 80mm by screwing on a steel adapter, which for the life of me I can't unscrew. A very uncommon lens in great, original condition.
