This also comes with a metal scabbard. These were used from WWI through the fall of France in 1940. These saw use by troops in the French colonies as well. The cruciform blade was used until 1956. There were two main manufacturers, Manufacture D'Armes St. Etienne (MAS) and Manufacture Nationale d'Armies de Chatellerault (MAC). Overall, this bayonet is in Very Good condition, considering its age. The press catch is functional and has average spring tension. Both the brass grip and guard are securely fastened to the tang of the knife. They have scattered light compression marks and oxidation. The cruciform blade has light handling marks, but no notable damage. The blade has been cut down from its original length and the quillon has been removed. The tip is intact and comes to a sharp straight point. The cruciform is marked with a "B" within a circle and a "G" within a circle. The guard is marked "K23318". Scabbard is NOT included. This bayonet will be a great addition to your French Lebel rifle, or bayonet collection in general. As with all used items, a light cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards.
