Description: In this listing we are offering a marvelous & exciting WWI MK1 model British made helmet with split rivets construction. This all original painted helmet has an American eagle holding a red keystone. The red keystone was the emblem of the 28th Pennsylvania division. On the dome of the helmet the letters "A E F" are painted which stands for American Expeditionary Forces & also on the dome is the date 1918. Around the rim are painted the names of various WW1 battles. The battle names painted around the edge include Champagne, Marne, Aisne, Marne, Oise, Aisne, Argonne. The 28th Pa. division fought in all of the battles mentioned on the rim of the helmet. The helmet is 12 inches long across the rim by 11 7/16 inches wide across the rim. The weight is 1 pound & 11.6 ounces. This helmet still retains the chin strap bails. But, the lining & the chin strap are missing. The inside of the helmet appears to have some of the letters of the soldier's name remaining. But, we have tried very hard & cannot clearly read any part of the name. There are no touch-ups to the original WW1 period paint. The paint is 100% guaranteed to be entirely original & the helmet has been tested under uv light to verify. This fascinating, wonderful, & historic helmet was recently found fresh out of a Berks County, Pennsylvania estate.
