Smith (February 23, 1918 – August 21, 1995) was an American WWII fighter pilot and ace credited with 8.7, 8.9 or 9 Japanese aircraft while fighting with the AVG Flying Tigers. Link Laughlin (December 30, 1916-March 25, 1995) enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve in New York City. He took his flight training at Pensacola, receiving his wings and commission as 2nd Lt. in June 1941, then accepting assignment there as Flight Instructor. In August of 1941 Link resigned his commission in the Marine Reserves to become a member of the American Volunteer Group. This took him to Rangoon in November of 1941 where he was assigned to the 3rd Squadron (The Hell's Angels). This signed photo is a copy of an actual period photo. The signature is real and was most likely signed in the 1980s-1990s.
