Description: Thank you for viewing our listings. This listings is for a genuine and original WWII German Army Sterbebild. Sterbebild are also known as Funeral Cards or Death Notices. The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Anton Dürrbeck Anton a Private in the skilled Mountain Troop regiments. He was awarded the Eastern Front medal for service on the Russian Front and a Wound Badge for wounds received (similar to a U.S. Purple Heart). Anton fell on October 31, 1943 at the Kuban Bridgehead at the age of 21. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us.
